Steeles Law beat Cosworth’s former (London) law firm to win the national tender; strengthening their longstanding relationship with Cosworth, for whom they have provided contractual legal advice for over a decade.
Cosworth is a leading provider of high performance technologies to a wide range of industries, including aerospace & defence, automotive and clean energy generation, but is perhaps most famous for its involvement in Formula One and the world of motorsport. The business has enjoyed significant growth in recent years thanks to a determined diversification effort that has expanded the group’s footprint into new markets and geographies. This diversification has led to Cosworth achieving double-digit growth and increased profitability during the most testing economic conditions in recent history.
Steeles Law has also seen recent growth in business, particularly in motorsport, company restructuring and start-ups, mostly linked with innovation and technology - a reflection of the current climate.
James Tarling, a partner in Steeles Law’s Commercial Team, comments, “We have acted for members of the Cosworth Group since 1994, providing legal services throughout the relatively brief period during which the business was a part of Ford, and the subsequent era of private ownership. It is fantastic to now provide a wider range of services to such a dynamic and ambitious organisation and we look forward to continuing to develop our relationship further. The challenging demands of the industries within which Cosworth operates, raise equally challenging and interesting legal issues, on which we enjoy working with Cosworth to provide practical solutions.”
Steeles Law, with offices in London and Norfolk, will advise Cosworth on legal matters from corporate, contract, employment and property law to debt collection and dispute resolution.
With a dedicated Anglo-North American practice, Steeles Law is also ideally placed to advise businesses such as Cosworth on the legal issues facing North American businesses trading in or with the UK and Europe as well as providing economic, commercial and cultural insight into the region.
A member of the Motorsport Industry Association, Steeles Law has a substantial portfolio of global clients in the motorsport, automotive and related high tech engineering industries, advising on anything from driver contracts, sponsorship and merchandising arrangements, to engine supply contracts, licensing, development and business sales or purchases.
Cosworth’s CEO Tim Routsis comments, “Steeles Law has won this contract on merit by consistently providing quality, good value advice. They have demonstrated that, as well as being pragmatic and client-led in their approach, they are also willing to be innovative in the way that they deliver legal services to Cosworth.”
