Steeles Law Defends Ronnie O’Sullivan’s Former Management Company

Steeles Law Litigation specialist Rhory Robertson is representing 110sport Management Limited in their dispute against snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan - a claim that could cost the star £250,000.

110sport is one of the UK’s leading sports management organisations, acting for a wide range of clients from the world of sport, including Olympic hero Sir Chris Hoy.

Rhory Robertson is defending 110sport’s claim that, on ending his contract with the management company, Ronnie O’Sullivan has cost the company large commissions - 110sport took commission on any deals it arranged on Ronnie O’Sullivan’s behalf.

Rhory Robertson is a leading litigator in Steeles Law’s specialist sports team, which represents clients throughout the industry from management companies such as 110sport to snooker players, Premiership footballers and football clubs. The firm also advises a number of clients in the motorsports sector, from small companies to F1 team members to leading representatives of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

The case is based around the fact that, when Ronnie O’Sullivan notified 110sport he no longer wanted the company to represent him as his exclusive worldwide commercial agent on 2 July 2008, he had been using 110sport as his agent from 31 May 2008 without entering into a new contract.

Ronnie O’Sullivan brought a £50,000 claim against 110sport for loss of earnings, saying there were sums owing to him under contracts agreed on his behalf which 110sport has failed to pay.

110sport deny this (subject to an admission in respect of one sum which is due to Ronnie O’Sullivan) and have issued a £45,000 counterclaim for commission and damages in respect of lost opportunity to earn commission on future contracts, unlawful interference with sponsors’ contracts plus fees which already stand at £25,000.

In a recent News of the World article Rhory Robertson was quoted as saying: "If this legal action were to go all the way to trial, Ronnie O’Sullivan could end up paying around £250,000.

"We’re confident of defending the action against 110sport and making sure the company receive their full counter-claim and legal fees."
